HEH HEH HEH....but....Matt will start hauling the first load of supplies North on April 28! He has the first set of eyes on the lodge since 2018...which is scary! We hopefully cut down enough dangerous trees to keep our buildings safe through the winter.
I have 61 days to buy everything and bake and taste test and finish up here in Lloyd because we leave May 18....that means I truly only have 54 days ...oh my gosh!!! I have been busy, but I better get crackin and striking things off the lists! I have food lists & supply lists ready, I have ordered all of our promo gear, the meat for the year and I have bought 3 boat/motor combos from Drifts and Waves in LaRonge!
Matt is getting a new 18' Lund work boat because the old one is from about 1976 and leaks like a sieve...absolutely dangerous for the kids to even think about getting in the that boat. The 18' Lund will be fashioned with a 60hp Yamaha, bilge pump, lodge radio, down rigger and fingers crossed for a sonar to fit into the budget. This boat will move people and gear to the outpost in half the time for half the fuel!
I also bought 2-16' Lund with 25 hP Yamaha with manual start. Slowly we will have our entire Davin fleet switched up to 16'. Adding 2 new bigger boats, allows us to move a couple 14' through the portage and over to the outpost. We cleared out all the leakers from Wathaman last year, so time to bring some quality over. These 14' at the outpost will not have padded seats because the bears love to play, wrestle and destroy them....sorry!
A trip to Cabela's and Fishin' Hole is planned for April 20 and again in May....I have been adding to my list of tackle based on my own research and suggestions that came through from our fishermen! If you have any lure ideas you think I should add to the list, please drop me an email...you will go into a draw for 2019 Davin Lodge gear!
I have one more slot left for Wathaman...I can be somewhat flexible on the days, but basically its open starting July 22. The water may still be high enough at that time to make it up the Pink River to the rapids...what a walleye opportunity!! Its a beautiful ride with lots of time to cast and troll for your own shore lunch. Otherwise, trophy pike and walleye are easy pickings North of the Outpost. Give me a call, text or email if you want this slot because if you don't, someone else will grab it up and you will have to wait until 2020 to fish Wathaman!
At Davin, the dates have filled up, but I still have a single cabin open for the last week of June! I have a couple dates open in July and a "SPECIAL" for the last 2 weeks of August...check your email (junkmail too) if you are a subscriber on our website.
