TREATY 10

Nicholas Davin Flood

Nicholas Davin Flood was a notable figure whose name is associated with Davin Lake, a picturesque location that invites reflection. As an immigrant, he pursued ambitious aspirations and immersed himself in entrepreneurship, journalism, and politics. Flood was dedicated to making a impact and integrating into the society of his time. While his actions should clearly be held to contemporary scrutiny, it is evident that his actions and work were reflective of Canada's political climate of the time. He strived to be accepted into Canada's political society and establish a successful life at the expense of Canada's Indigeneous Peoples. His research and actions were the inflection point for the generational trauma experienced by all Indigeneous people who were forced into the residential school systems operated by the Canadian government and managed by the Catholic Church.
